I live near
Barton Springs Pool and it is a natural spring-fed pool that is 68 degrees year-round. It is a popular place to swim, sunbathe, and relax. It is a great place to cool off in the summer and is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. There is an endangered species of salamander called the
Barton Springs Salamander which is native to the pool. Also when you swim, fish swim besides you and there is an interesting diving board where people line up to show their skills. On New Years Day, there is a polar plunge which is fun to do and see the thousands of people who come out to jump in. The pool is located in Zilker Park, which is a large park in the heart of Austin. The park is home to many events and festivals throughout the year, including the Austin City Limits Music Festival and the Zilker Kite Festival. It is free admission before 8am and after 9pm.
